State Farm has a reputation for rejecting claims because of a few well-publicized instances involving natural disasters.

Why is STATE FARM Denying Property Damage Claims?

What are the leading State Farm Claims Problems?
Numerous concerns from customers have been directed towards State Farm for their handling of insurance claims since the 2020 Colorado wildfires.

In 2022, State Farm was forced to pay the federal government a $100 million settlement for improperly managing flood insurance claims during Hurricane Katrina. Customers, brokers, and former employers are also suing State Farm for allegedly rejecting insurance claims on the basis of race.

There are numerous justifiable explanations why State Farm can reject a claim, even if these instances should be taken into consideration while choosing whether or not to become a customer.

These can include failing to pay the required premiums, lacking the required “proof of loss,” lacking the required coverage, or failing to file your claim within the allotted time frame.

If your claim is turned down, you have the following options:

Obtain the Denial Letter, then carefully read it.

The denial letter should include the insurance company’s perspective on the matter and a detailed explanation of the reasons your claim was rejected. You should carefully read and consider this letter in order to comprehend the reasons for the denial of your claim as well as your future course of action.

They may reject a claim for a number of reasons, including:

  • Not submitting your claim within the allotted time frames
  • The insurance has ended.
  • Insufficient proof of culpability
  • Inaccurate or lacking information
  • Violating State Farm guidelines
  • Missing records, such as receipts for repairs.

In case you have any doubts or uncertainties regarding the denial letter, it could be prudent to consult a lawyer for advice and clarity.

Assemble evidence:

Prior to taking any further action, find out why the claim was denied and collect any more supporting documentation. This may consist of videos, pictures, witnesses and more.

Appeal the final decision:

Make sure you adhere to State Farm’s prescribed processes if you choose to contest the denial. Any errors could end up costing you more time and effort and increasing the risk associated with your claim. To assist you with the procedure, you might also want to think about working with a lawyer who has handled property insurance claims before.

What should you do if State Farm rejects your claim?

Don’t give up hope just yet if State Farm rejected your claim.

There might still be options to pursue in order to recover damages related to the occurrence, depending on the insurer’s justifications for rejecting your claim and your specific situation.

In the event that you believe your claim has been rejected without cause or that your adjuster did not sufficiently examine the claim, you may also think about calling The Chad T. Wilson Lawfirm and suing State Farm. If State Farm offers you an unreasonable settlement, you may even file a lawsuit against them as well.
