Untrustworthy Claims Management Techniques Used by Allstate

Untrustworthy Claims Management Techniques Used by Allstate

Allstate, a leading insurance company, is currently facing significant controversy due to accusations that it prioritizes shareholder profits over customer satisfaction.

Thomas Wilson, CEO of Allstate, acknowledged a harsh fact in his admission

The company’s primary allegiance lies in generating robust returns for its shareholders, rather than championing the needs of its clientele. This admission gains weight when compared with internal documents that paint the picture of a glaring dissonance between the outward portrayal of protection, symbolized by the iconic “good hands” image in advertisements, and the internal directives mandating stringent contestation of claims put forth by policyholders.

Opponents, primarily the American Association for Justice (AAJ), criticize Allstate for what they see as a calculated approach that prioritizes profits over the fair treatment of its policyholders by providing pitiful settlements and using aggressive legal tactics when facing claims. This greedy business strategy has definitely boosted the company’s finances, as evidenced by CEO Wilson’s incredible salary package, which came to an eye-watering $16.3 million in past years.

Allstate’s substantial financial profits are allegedly making it difficult for many unhappy claimants to receive adequate compensation, if any at all.

Adding fuel to the fire, Allstate stands accused of cloaking its policies, a labyrinth designed to capture policyholders in a web of misunderstanding. Critics argue that this deliberate obfuscation serves as a smokescreen, allowing Allstate to rake in premiums under false pretenses, leaving policyholders woefully underprepared when calamity strikes and their anticipated coverage proves elusive.

In the court of public opinion, Allstate has been dealt a damning blow, earning the ignominious title of the worst insurance company. This denunciation, levied by vocal critics who decry the company’s rapacious pursuit of profit, underscores a seismic rupture in the delicate fabric of trust between insurer and insured, with Allstate’s profit-driven machinations coming at the egregious expense of its policyholders’ welfare and confidence.

Allstate Insurance Denies Claim Ignoring Third-Party Adjuster

Allstate Vehicle and Property Insurance Company Ignores Damage to Deny Insurance Claim

Allstate Ignores Damage to Client’s Property

Our client recently filed a lawsuit against Allstate Vehicle and Property Insurance Company and its adjusters. A Third-party adjuster was hired after several denied claims and subpar inspections. The client’s home was seriously damaged by strong winds and a hailstorm that blew through Harris County, Texas, on May 21, 2016. Allstate and its adjusters conducted a substandard and improper inspection of our client’s property, grossly undervaluing the cost of repairs and deliberately yielding an unrealistic amount to underpay coverage.

The May 21, 2016 Storm

On May 21, 2016, a severe wind and hailstorm tore through Harris County, pelting our client’s home with hail and heavy rain. The storm damaged Plaintiff’s roof to such a degree as to cause leaks in the interior of the home. After the storm, our client promptly submitted a claim to Allstate, hoping his insurance company would help him repair his home.

Allstate assigned two adjusters to inspect the property and adjust the claim twice. The first adjuster conducted a subpar investigation, refused full coverage, and said the home suffered no damage from the storm. The second adjuster generated an estimate of only $191.25, which was well below Plaintiff’s deductible. This left our client with zero recovery necessary to make repairs to his home.

The third-party adjuster expert hired after the insurance company’s fraudulent inspection found a litany of damages that were either conveniently absent or undervalued in Allstate’s estimate.

Third-party adjuster was hired to help

The third-party adjuster estimated the real damage to our client’s home at $22,076.86.

Allstate’s adjusters intentionally undervalued our client’s claims in order to maintain their jobs. They misrepresented the amount of damage, hoping our client would simply rely on their expertise and fraudulent estimates as a true representation of the property’s damages.

Allstate’s fraud forced our client to retain an attorney, just so he could get his home repaired. On August 9, 2017 the Chad T. Wilson Law Firm filed suit on behalf of our client against Allstate. The firm is suing for the amount of damages Allstate should have paid our client from the beginning, as well as fees and penalties for failing to investigate our client’s claim in a reasonable manner.

Allstate assigned one of its adjusters to inspect the property and adjust the claim. The adjuster knowingly conducted a subpar investigation, refusing full coverage and estimating damages to total about $1,700, which, after the deductible, left our clients with no recovery to make repairs to their home.

The third-party expert hired after the insurance company’s fraudulent inspection found a litany of damages that were either conveniently absent or undervalued in Allstate’s estimate.

The damage to our client’s property is currently estimated at nearly $37,000.

Allstate’s adjuster intentionally undervalued our clients’ claims in order to maintain his job, misrepresenting the amount of damage in the hopes that our clients would simply rely on his expertise and fraudulent estimate as a true representation of the property’s damages.

Because of Allstate Vehicle and Property Insurance Company’s fraud, our clients were unable to complete any meaningful repairs to their home, which resulted in even more damage. They were forced to retain an attorney to pursue their claim for insurance benefits. On November 17, 2016, the Chad T. Two Houston residents, our clients, recently filed suit against Allstate Vehicle and Property Insurance Company and its adjuster. Their home was seriously damaged in a severe storm that ripped through Harris County, Texas in April 2016. Allstate and its adjuster conducted a substandard and improper inspection of their home, grossly undervaluing the cost of repairs and deliberately yielding an unrealistic amount to underpay coverage.

April 17, 2016 Storm

On April 17, 2016, a severe storm bombarded Houston, pelting our clients’ home with damaging hail. Their property suffered severe damage to the roof and exterior, as well as much of the house’s interior. After the storm, our clients quickly submitted a claim to Allstate, hoping their insurance company would help them get their life back in order.

Allstate assigned one of its adjusters to inspect the property and adjust the claim. The adjuster knowingly conducted a subpar investigation, refusing full coverage and estimating damages to total about $1,800. After the deductible, this left our clients with no money to repair their home.

The third-party expert hired after the insurance company’s negligent inspection found a litany of damages that were either conveniently absent or undervalued in Allstate’s estimate. For example, the adjuster failed to recognize damage to the roof, but discovered the interior water damage that was caused by the damaged roof.

The damage to our clients’ property is currently estimated at $34,500.

Allstate’s adjuster intentionally undervalued our clients’ claims in order to maintain his job. He misrepresented the amount of damage hoping our client would simply rely on his expertise and fraudulent estimate as a true representation of the property’s damages.

Because of Allstate’s fraud, our clients could not complete any meaningful repairs to their home, resulting in even more damage. Allstate’s inadequacies forced them to retain an attorney to pursue their claim for insurance benefits. On October 19, 2016, the Chad T. Wilson Law Firm filed suit, on behalf of our clients, against Allstate Insurance Company and its adjuster for fraud, breach of contract, negligence, gross negligence and violations of the Texas Insurance Code and the Texas DTPA.
